Nintendo Co. this week said New Super Mario Bros. 2 for the Nintendo 3DS ranked as the No. 4 best-selling game title in Sept. U.S. sales.
The title sold 295,000 units to rank at No. 4 among software titles sold in Sept.
The brand new 2D side-scroller includes Mario, Luigi and other trademark characters in a pick-up-and-play experience.
In addition, Nintendo said Nintendo 3DS software sales increased 89 percent from the same period one year ago post release of the new Nintendo 3DS XL SKU.
The Nintendo 3DS XL includes a 4.88-inch main display, 90 percent larger the current Nintendo 3DS, and include a 4GB SD card.
Nintendo launched the Nintendo 3DS handheld with 18 software titles Mar. 27.
The hardware includes two screens, a 3D Depth Slider, a Circle Pad, a 2GB SD Card and 3-D display technology that does not require the use of special glasses.
