Sales for Sony Corp.’s Playstation 3 ranked as the second best-selling hardware in the latest Japan retail activity.
Media Create Co. this week reported the PS3 sold 13,903 units between Sept. 10 and Sept. 16 to rank No. 2 in overall hardware sales.
By comparison, the hardware sold 11,813 units to rank third the week prior.
The PS3 ranked two titles in the top 10, including Namco Bandai Inc.’s Tekken Tag Tournament 2 at No. 1 with 62,630 units sold at launch.
Sony this week announced the Playstation 3 Slim 250GB Uncharted 3 Bundle, which includes the new redesigned hardware.
The Playstation 3 Slim 250GB Uncharted 3 Bundle includes the new, slim PS3 250GB hardware SKU, Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception: Game of the Year Edition, and the digital title Dust 514 at $269.99.
The new PS3 model CECH-4000 will be sold in the 250GB Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception Bundle SKU at $269.99 Sept. 25 and a 500GB SKU at $299.99 Oct. 30.
The company said the internal volume and weight of the new PS3 has been reduced by more than half of the original PS3 model sold in 2006 and by 20 to 25 percent of the current model.
Konami Corp. this week released the Tokyo Game Show Trailer for Metal Gear Solid Rising: Revengeance.
The new trailer features brand new cinematic and action sequences from the final game.
Developed by Platinum Games, Metal Gear Solid Rising: Revengeance, to be sold Feb. 2013, will feature Raiden in spectacular battles between soldiers and machines.

XSEED Games this week released Way of the Samurai 4 DLC for the Playstation 3 to the Playstation Network.
New DLC includes ‘Where Are They Now’ which includes a new mission and new character unlocks from fans of the franchise at $4.99.
The Shinsengumi DLC Pack includes a new mission that rewards them with the most famous members of the Shinsengumi group at $4.99.
Additional DLC includes new weapon packs and a scrolls set to add new attacks from $0.99 to $2.99.
Way of the Samurai 4 is sold as a digital release at the Playstation Store at $39.99.

The PS Vita sold 10,858 units between Sept. 10 and Sept. 16 to rank as the No. 3 hardware for the week.
By comparison, the hardware sold 14,106 the week prior.
The hardware did not rank any titles in the top 10 for the week.
Meanwhile, the PSP sold 9,069 units to rank at No. 4 in the same period.
Sony this week said it will offer Playstation Plus service to Playstation Vita owners.
The premium game membership will offer exclusive features like Instant Game Collection, Discounts, Online Game Storage, Automatic Updates and Automatic Trophy Sync.
Current Playstation Plus members will receive features for the PS Vita at no additional cost.
Playstation Plus service is sold in a 3-Month subscription at $17.99 and 1-Year Subscription at $49.99.

EA Inc. this week said the Medal of Honor: Warfighter Beta for Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox 360 will begin in early Oct.

Apple Inc. this week released iOS 6 to the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch.
iOS 6 includes tighter integration with third-party applications like Facebook, Twitter, Yelp, and OpenTable. The latter two services will be integrated in a new Maps applications, which utilizes vector mapping to provide 3D fly-over views and turn-by-turn directions.
Additional features include Passbook, a digital wallet to store movie tickets, boarding passes, and coupons.
