Sales for Nintendo Co.’s Wii hardware ranked as the fifth top-selling hardware in Japan in the latest retail data from the region.
Media Create Co. on Fri. reported that the Wii sold 6,019 units between Sept. 10 and Sept. 16 to rank No. 5 in overall sales.
By comparison, the Wii sold 6,958 units the week prior.
The hardware ranked one title in the top 10, including Square Enix Holdings Co.’s Dragon Quest X: Mezameshi Itsutsu no Shuzoku Online at No. 10.
Nintendo in July recorded a $220 million loss in the first quarter due to declining sales of the Wii console.
In the quarter ending June 30, held a net loss of $220 million on revenue of $1.08 billion.
Nintendo sold 710,000 Wii units between Apr. and June, less than half of the 1.6 million units sold in the same period last year.
The Wii holds a global install base of 51 million units.
Nintendo will release Wii U, the successor the Wii hardware, Nov. 18.
