Sales for Sony Corp.’s Playstation 3 ranked as the second best-selling hardware in the latest Japan retail activity.
Media Create Co. this week reported the PS3 sold 12,433 units between Aug. 27 and Sept. 2 to rank No. 3 in overall hardware sales.
By comparison, the hardware sold 11,896 units to rank third the week prior.
The PS3 ranked two titles in the top 10 for the week, including Capcom Co.’s Sengoku Basara HD Collection at No. 7.
Sony this week said DirecTV NFL Sunday Ticket is now available for Playstation 3 owners.
All Direct subscribers under the NFL Sunday Ticket Max plan will be able to download the PS3 application at no cost to stream live out-of-market NFL games in HD.
Also, users will receive access to the Red Zone Channel at no additional cost.
PS3 owners without DirecTV NFL Sunday Ticket can purchase access to view content via the PS3 at $299.95.
Sony this week released the Furies Trailer for God of War: Ascension for the Playstation 3.
The trailer introduces three goddesses of vengeance called The Furies that seek retribution for those they deem guilty.
The God of War: Ascension Collector’s Edition, to be sold Mar. 12, will include an 8-inch Kratos Statue, Steelbook Case, Soundtrack, PS3 Dynamic Theme, PSN Avatar Pack, Multiplayer Double XP Unlock, and Pass for Future DLC Content at $79.99.
Sony this week said released a new update to allow select Playstation 3 Collections titles to utilize the Playstation Vita Remote Play functionality.
The downloadable update will allow users to play God of War Collection and Ico and Shadow of the Colossus Collection from their PS Vita using Remote Play.
Both collections include customizable control functions that can map onto PS Vita controls, including the rear touchpad.
Sony this week said it will release Killzone Trilogy to the Playstation 3 Oct. 23.
Killzone Trilogy will include all three Killzone titles in addition to the Killzone 2 and Killzone 3 Map Pack Bundles.
It will sell at $29.99.
Sony this week released a new Gameplay Trailer for The Last of Us for the Playstation 3.
The trailer is an extended version of the E3 demo showcased in mid-2012.
Developed by Naughty Dog Inc., The Last of Us is said to include survival and action elements amid abandoned cities decimated by a plague.
EA Inc. this week released the Battlefield 3: Armored Kill DLC for the Playstation 3 to Playstation Plus members.
Armored Kill will deploy to all PS3 owners Sept. 18.
Battlefield 3: Armored Kill is an expansion pack that includes five new drivable vehicles and 20 vehicle-specific unlocks.
The final product includes a brand new game mode called Tank Superiority to allow heavy vehicles to battle and take over map areas.
Konami Corp. this week said Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes, a new open-world title in the tactical espionage franchise, will be a multi-platform release on current generation consoles and the PC.
A demo which was rendered with advanced PC hardware was said to be similarly configured to the Playstation 3 hardware.
The title is set to take place prior to the events of Metal Gear Solid 5.
Sales for the Playstation Vita rocketed to second place in the latest retail data from Japan.
The PS Vita sold 50,070 units between Aug. 27 and Sept. 2 to rank as the No. 5 hardware for the week.
By comparison, the hardware sold 10,880 the week prior.
The hardware ranked one title in the top 10 games for the week, Sega Corp.’s Hatsune Miku: Project Diva f at No. 1, selling 159,592 units at launch.
Meanwhile, the PSP sold 10,266 units to rank at No. 4 in the same period.
Sony this week said LittleBigPlanet for the Playstation Vita has entered gold manufacturing status and will be sold Sept. 25 in the U.S.
Developed by Tarsier Studios and Media Molecule, the title will include a brand new story mode, new art, new features, and new tools.
In addition, the title will utilize touch and tilt functionality for new level interactivity.
Atlus Inc.’s Persona 4 Golden: Solid Gold Premium Edition for the Playstation Vita held in the top three pre-order products at GameStop Corp.’s online division due to strong demand.
This week, Persona 4 Golden: Solid Gold Premium Edition ranked as the No. 2 best-selling pre-order product at Gamestop.com.

Media Create Co. on Fri. reported that the Xbox 360 sold 875 units between Aug. 27 and Sept. 2 to rank No. 7 in overall sales.
By comparison, the hardware sold 863 units the week prior.
Microsoft this week said the Xbox 360 ranked as the top-selling game hardware in U.S. Aug. sales figures.
The Xbox 360 sold 193,000 units to rank as the No. 1 game hardware for the month in figures provided by NPD Group Inc.

The hardware sold 71,373 the week prior.
The 3DS ranked three titles in top 10, including Atlus Inc.’s Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers at No. 2 and New Super Mario Bros. 2 at No. 4.
The Nintendo DS sold 1,488 units for the week.

NPD Group Inc. this week said New Super Mario Bros. 2 ranked as the No. 2 best-selling pre-order game title in Aug., selling more than 240,000 units for the month.
The brand new 2D side-scroller includes Mario, Luigi and other trademark characters in a pick-up-and-play experience.
Nintendo this week said sales of the Nintendo 3DS platform increased in Aug. in part to the launch of the Nintendo 3DS XL hardware.
The company said 3DS hardware sales increased 36 percent from July due to the launch of the Nintendo 3DS, which began sale in the U.S. Aug. 19.
The Nintendo 3DS XL includes a 4.88-inch main display, 90 percent larger the current Nintendo 3DS, and include a 4GB SD card.
Amazon.com Inc. this week announced the Kindle Fire HD, the successor to the popular 7-inch tablet released in 2011.
The Kindle Fire HD will be sold in a 7-inch SKU with a faster CPU and double the RAM at $199.00.
The new 8.9-inch SKU will include a 1.5Ghz Dual-Core CPU, 16GB RAM, 1920 x 1200 HD display, Dual-band Dual Antennae Wi-Fi, HDMI out, and Dolby Digital Plus Audio at $249.00. A 32GB SKU will be sold at $369.00. The 7-inch SKUs will be sold Sept. 14.
In addition, an 8.9-inch 4G LTE Wireless 32GB SKU that can utilize a 12-Month, $59.99 per year data plan will cost $499.00. The 64GB SKU will sell at $599.00. The products will be sold Nov. 20.
The data plan will include 250GB per month of data, 20GB of cloud storage and $10 Appstore Credit.
Finally, a new entry-level Kindle will be sold at $69.00, and a new Kindle Paperwhite SKU will high resolution, high contrast, and front-lit technology will start at $119.00. Each will be sold Sept. 14.
