Retailer GameStop Corp. this week began offering a free game with the purchase of Nintendo Co.’s Nintendo 3DS or Nintendo 3DS XL in a new online promotion.
This week, customers who purchase a Nintendo 3DS or Nintendo 3DS XL will receive a copy of Steel Diver at no cost.
The Nintendo 3DS XL includes a 4.88-inch main display, 90 percent larger the current Nintendo 3DS, and include a 4GB SD card.
The Nintendo 3DS sold 1.9 million units in the first quarter, an increase from 710,000 units the year prior at a $249 launch price.
The handheld has sold 19 million units to date.
Nintendo launched the Nintendo 3DS handheld with 18 software titles Mar. 27.
The hardware includes two screens, a 3D Depth Slider, a Circle Pad, a 2GB SD Card and 3-D display technology that does not require the use of special glasses.
