Media Create Co. this week reported the PS3 sold 16,277 units between Aug. 13 and Aug. 19 to rank No. 3 in overall hardware sales.
By comparison, the hardware sold 14,580 units to rank third the week prior.
The PS3 ranked one title in the top 15, Atlus Inc.’s Persona 4: Arena at No. 12, which sold 10,603 units in third-week figures.
Pre-order sales for Playstation 3 Collections titles ranked in the top 25 sales in Wal-Mart Stores Inc. online division due to strong demand.
God of War Saga ranked as the No. 23 best-selling pre-order in Walmart.com’s Video Games division.
Ratchet and Clank Collection ranked at No. 24 in the same period.
NIS America Inc. this week released Legasista to the Playstation Network.
The download title is a dungeon crawler RPG that includes action / survival gameplay in which users can defeat monsters and gain loot.
XSEED Games this week released Way of the Samurai 4 the Playstation 3 to the Playstation Network.
The title is sold as a digital release at the Playstation Store at $39.99.
Developed by Acquire, Way of the Samurai 4 includes custom character creation from three age groups and choose quests between three feuding factions that will affect the branching storyline.
SNK Playmore USA Corp. this week released arcade classics Choppper I and The Next Space to the Playstation Network division.
Each title sells at $2.99.
The SNK Arcade Classics releases are sold as PSP minis and are compatible with the Playstation 3.
Sales for the Playstation Vita ranked fifth in the latest retail data from Japan.
The PS Vita sold 11,298 units between Aug. 13 and Aug. 19 to rank as the No. 5 hardware for the week.
By comparison, the hardware sold 9,446 the week prior.
The hardware did not rank any software titles in the top 10.
Meanwhile, the PSP sold 12,018 units to rank at No. 5 in the same period.

Atlus Inc. this announced the Persona 4 Golden: Solid Gold Premium Edition for the Playstation Vita.
The Persona 4 Golden: Solid Gold Premium Edition will include the full game, custom Hori Hard Pouch, Hori Face Cover, custom Protective Skin, and Stickers at $69.99.
Persona 4 Golden is an enhanced and expanded version of Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4. The title includes new Personas, new story events, an all-new character, new cutscenes and more.
Sony this week said it will release SunFlowers to the Playstation Vita this fall.
Developed by The Game Atelier, SunFlowers is a casual puzzle title in which users control the sun to beam rain and grow flowers.
The final game will include hardware functionality to shake the PS Vita in order to move leaves away from flowers.
XSEED Games this week said it will release Ragnorok Odyssey Mercenary Edition for the Playstation Vita this Oct.
The Mercenary Edition will include a soundtrack CD, Mercenary Guide, pack of Monster Cards at $49.99.
The standard edition will sell at $39.99.
Developed by Game Arts and GungHo Online Entertainment, Ragnorok Odyssey is an action RPG in which users can combat with ground and air melee attacks.

Media Create Co. on Fri. reported that the Xbox 360 sold 978 units between Aug. 13 and Aug. 19 to rank No. 8 in overall sales.
By comparison, the hardware sold 998 units the week prior.
Microsoft this week announced a permanent price reduction for the Kinect sensor for the Xbox 360 to $109.99.
The sensor previously sold at $149.99.
The price reduction is valid in North America, Latin America, Latin America, and Asia Pacific regions.
Beginning Oct. 4, the Kinect will be price cut in Australia and New Zealand.

Nintendo this week issued a media invite to select outlets to provide new details for the Wii U console.
The event, to be held in New York City Sept. 13, will likely detail the price, launch date, and launch titles for the Wii successor.
The Wii U will be released in 2012.

Nintendo this week released New Super Mario Bros. 2 for the Nintendo 3DS to U.S. retail.
The brand new 2D side-scroller includes Mario, Luigi and other trademark characters in a pick-up-and-play experience.
Nintendo this week said the Nintendo Power magazine will cease publication in Dec. 2012.
The first issue of the magazine was published in July / Aug 1988 and featured Super Mario Bros. 2 for the Nintendo Entertainment System on the cover.

Apple Inc. this week was awarded $1.05 billion in damages by a U.S. jury after it ruled that Samsung Electronics had copied key features of Apple products.
Apple charged that Samsung products like the Samsung Galaxy S II and the Galaxy tablet had copied the design and features of products including the iPad and iPhone. It was seeking $2.5 billion in damages.
The jury deliberated for under three days before reaching a verdict, which could lead to a ban of key Samsung products at retail.
Global smartphone sales are said to reach $207.6 billion in 2012, increasing to $252.7 billion in 2013 according to Credit Suisse.
