Microsoft Corp. this week announced a permanent price reduction for the Kinect sensor for the Xbox 360 to $109.99.

The sensor previously sold at $149.99.

The price reduction is valid in North America, Latin America, Latin America, and Asia Pacific regions.

Beginning Oct. 4, the Kinect will be price cut in Australia and New Zealand.

Microsoft in July recorded a 39 percent decline in Xbox 360 sales from the year prior to 1.1 million units in the fourth quarter. Xbox 360 hardware market share increased to 49 percent from 42 percent.
