Sales for Sony Corp.’s Playstation 3 ranked as the third best-selling hardware in the latest Japan retail activity.

Media Create Co. this week reported the PS3 sold 14,580 units between Aug. 6 and Aug. 12 to rank No. 3 in overall hardware sales.

By comparison, the hardware sold 13,944 units to rank third the week prior.

The PS3 ranked one title in the top 10, Atlus Inc.’s Persona 4: Arena at No. 8, which sold 16,912 units in third-week figures.

Sony this week announced three new exclusive game titles for the Playstation 3 at Gamescom in Cologne, Germany.

Until Dawn is a Playstation Move compatible action thriller title in which a couple must survive a haunted cabin in the woods.

Rain is a high-concept adventure title by Japan Studios that uncovers an invisible boy and enemies through rain-soaked levels.

Finally, Puppeteer is an adventure title that utilizes marionette characters in live stage show levels.

Sony this week said Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale for the Playstation 3 will be delayed to Nov. 20.

The title was previously scheduled to be sold Oct. 23.

Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale will feature trademark characters from Playstation franchises, including Parappa the Rapper, Kratos from God of War, Sweet Tooth from Twisted Metal, Col. Radec from Killzone, and Fat Princess.

Sales for the Playstation Vita ranked fourth in the latest retail data from Japan.

The PS Vita sold 9,446 units between Aug. 6 and Aug. 12 to rank as the No. 5 hardware for the week.

By comparison, the hardware sold 9,038 the week prior.

The hardware did not rank any software titles in the top 10.

Meanwhile, the PSP sold 12,018 units to rank at No. 5 in the same period.

Sony this week said that it will enable a Cross Buy promotion for Cross Play titles for the Playstation 3 and Playstation Vita.

In the initiative, users who purchase the PS3 version of a title will automatically receive the PS Vita version at no extra cost.

Eligible titles include Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale, Sly Cooper, and Ratchet and Clank Full Frontal Assault.

Sony this week said it will realease Tearaway for the Playstation Vita.

Developed by Media Molecule, Tearaway is an new platform title that features the character Iota in a dynamic paper-based world that can be controlled in various ways.

Sony this week demonstrated the new Cross Control feature for the Playstation 3 and Playstation Vita at Gamescom in Cologne, Germany.

With an upcoming firmware DLC, users can control select PS3 titles with the Playstation Vita and utilize all Vita control features in the game.

In LittleBigPlanet 2, users can use the Vita to view hazard areas in the level, drag boxes around electric walls with the touchscreen, or beam Sackboy from the PS3 to the Vita and continue play on the handheld.

Atlus Inc. this week announced the pre-order bonus for Persona 4 Golden for Playstation Vita.

Customers who pre-order Persona 4 Golden will receive a P4G-themed protective Vita skin.

The skin features Persona 4 Golden artwork and can protect the hardware from small scratches and dust.

Sony this week released new details for Activision Blizzard Inc. will release Call of Duty: Black Ops Declassified for the Playstation Vita.

The title include four vs. four multiplayer via Wi-Fi with modes like Team Deathmatch and Kill Confirmed.

The story will take place between the events of Black Ops and Black Ops 2.

The final game will include Near functionality.

Sony this week said it will release Killzone Mercenary to the Playstation Vita.

The title will include shooting and close-combat first-person action in paid-job scenarios.

Sales for Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox 360 hardware held under 1,000 units in the latest Japan retail figures.

Media Create Co. on Fri. reported that the Xbox 360 sold 998 units between Aug. 6 and Aug. 12 to rank No. 7 in overall sales.

By comparison, the hardware sold 981 units the week prior.

EA Inc. this week said Dead Space 3 will be sold Feb. 5, 2013.

Pre-order customers will receive an automatic upgrade to the Limited Edition which includes First Contact Bundle DLC and the Witness the Bundle DLC, each of which include exclusive suits and weapons.

Capcom Co. this week said it will release Remember Me to the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC in May 2013.

Developed by DONTNOD Entertainment, the new IP is a third-person action adventure title.

In the game, Nilin, an elite memory hunter trained in marital arts can break into people’s minds and steal or change memories.

Bioware Corp. this week said it will release the Mass Effect 3 Leviathan DLC Aug. 28.

The Leviathan DLC is a single-player DLC extension that expands upon the events of the game with new characters, weapons, and upgrades.

Hybrid is a decent download title for Xbox Live that includes fast third-person multiplayer action among flying robots that duck and cover in close and mid-range firefights, though limited movement may turn off some shooting freaks in a Final Review.

Dust: An Elysian Tail for the Xbox Live division of Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox 360 is a solid 2D action title that offers quick combo-based action in a vibrant hand-painted world in a Final Review.

Sales for Nintendo Co.’s Wii hardware spiked in Japan amid the release of a new Dragon Quest title in the region.

Media Create Co. on Fri. reported that the Wii sold 16,145 units between Aug. 6 and Aug. 12 to rank No. 2 in overall sales.

By comparison, the Wii sold 41,415 units the week prior.

The hardware ranked four titles in the top 10, including Square Enix Holdings Co.’s Dragon Quest X: Mezameshi Itsutsu no Shuzoku Online at No. 2 which sold 73,705 units to rank in week two. The title has sold 440,853 units to date.

XSEED Games this week released The Last Story for Nintendo Co.’s Wii to U.S. retail.

Developed by Mistwalker, The Last Story is an RPG title that features a band of adventurers in a cinematic adventure.

Sales for Nintendo Co.’s Nintendo 3DS held the top sales rank in Japan in the latest retail data from the region.

Media Create Co. this week said the Nintendo 3DS sold 102,646 units between Aug. 6 and Aug. 12 to rank as the No. 1 game hardware for the week.

The hardware sold 124,415 the week prior.

The 3DS ranked three titles in top 10, including New Super Mario Bros. 2 at No. 1 selling 143,321 units in second-week figures.

The Nintendo DS sold 952 units for the week.

Meanwhile, Pokemon Black Version 2 and Pokemon White Version 2 ranked at No. 3. The sequel titles have sold 2.58 million in the region to date.


Tommo Inc. and SNK Playmore Corp. this week said it will sell the Neo Geo X Gold entertainment system in global markets Dec. 6, 2012

The handheld package will include the Neo Geo X handheld which includes 20 pre-loaded Neo Geo arcade game titles on a 4.3-inch LCD display. The handheld includes a 3.5mm headphone jack and can dock into the included Neo Geo X Station which offers HDMI and AV outputs and offers an expandable game card slot.

Finally, the entertainment system will include a full size Neo Geo X Joystick for true arcade action combined with the dock and a television set.

Activision Blizzard Inc. this week released the Cinematic Trailer for World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria for the PC.

The Cinematic Trailer introduces the Pandaren race and the effort to protect their land.

World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria, to be sold Sept. 25, is an expansion set that includes the Pandaren, World of Warcraft’s first neutral race.

The title allows battle to level 90, new mystic powers, and a brand new continent to explore.
