Sales for Sony Corp.’s Playstation 3 ranked as the third best-selling hardware in the latest Japan retail activity.
Media Create Co. this week reported the PS3 sold 13,944 units between July 30 and Aug. 5 to rank No. 3 in overall hardware sales.
By comparison, the hardware sold 15,916 units to rank third the week prior.
The PS3 ranked one title in the top 10, Atlus Inc.’s Persona 4: Arena at No. 7, which sold 20,477 units in second-week figures.
Sony this week said it will sell new Playstation 3 Collections titles to retail that will include a collection of full games in respective franchises.
New Collections titles include God of War Saga, Infamous Collection and Ratchet and Clank Collection.
God of War Saga will include five titles – God of War, God of War II, God of War III, God of War Origins Collection, and Playstation Plus 1-Month Voucher.
Infamous Collection includes Infamous, Infamous 2, Infamous: Festival of Blood, Extra Missions, and Additional Extras.
Finally, Ratchet and Clank Collection will include Ratchet and Clank, Ratchet and Clank: Going Commando, and Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal.
Sony this week released Sound Shapes for the Playstation 3 and the PS Vita to the Playstation Network division.
Sound Shapes is a music platform title in which users control a sticky ball through levels to nab notes. Each note will add a new musical layer to the level.
In addition, users can create levels that relays custom music in each play.
The title sells at $14.99 and $11.99 for Playstation Plus members this week.
Capcom Co. this week said it will release a new demo for Dragon’s Dogma for the Playstation 3.
The demo, to be released next week, will include the title’s Prologue to defeat the Hydra.
In addition, the new demo includes access to the character customization component.
Dragon’s Dogma, which began sale May 22, is a new action title that includes combat in a large, open world.
Naughty Dog Inc. and Sony this week released Patch 1.13 to Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception for the Playstation 3.
The Patch includes new Custom Parts, Trophies, Microtransactions, Character Skins, Block Mesh Maps, Sniper / Pistole Gametype, and Gameplay Fixes.
In addition, a new multiplayer DLC will be released Aug. 14. It can be unlocked by earning in-game levels, or by purchase via the Playstation Store.
Developer Tragnarion Studios this week said the title Scourge: Outbreak will be ready to deploy to the Playstation Network division of the Playstation 3 in several months.
The third-person shooter title will include a single-player and four-player co-op campaign. Each player in the co-op narrative will experience flashbacks unique to each specific character in the game.
In addition, the final game will include several multiplayer modes and maps.
Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale for the Playstation 3 ranked in the top five pre-order sales at Wal-Mart Stores Inc this week due to building demand.
This week, Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale ranked as the No. 5 best-selling pre-order title at Walmart.com‘s Video Games division.
Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale will feature trademark characters from Playstation franchises, including Parappa the Rapper, Kratos from God of War, Sweet Tooth from Twisted Metal, Col. Radec from Killzone, and Fat Princess.
Sony this week said LittleBigPlanet Karting for the Playstation 3 will be sold Nov. 6 at U.S. retail.
Developed by United Front Games, LittleBigPlanet Karting, will include a new campaign and level editor with the ability to share custom tracks.
Ubisoft Inc. this week said Assassin’s Creed III for Assassin’s Creed III for Sony Corp.’s Playstation 3 will offer an exclusive DLC that offers 60 minutes of additional gameplay.
The publisher did not detail the content, which was revealed in an update piece of box art.
Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment Inc. this week released new DLC for LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes to the Playstation Network and Xbox Live.
New DLC includes the Heroes Pack DLC with characters Nightwing, Katana, Shazam, Zatanna, and Damian Wayne.
The Villains Pack DLC includes Bizzaro, Captain Cold, Black Adam, Black Manta, Gorilla Grodd.
Each DLC sells at $1.99 each.
Atlus Inc. this week released SNK Playmore Corp.’s King of Fighters XIII to the Playstation Network and Xbox Live division.
The digital SKU sells at $29.99.
The King of Fighters XIII, which began sale Oct. 25, includes exclusive console content, including the character Billy Kane, online versus, and more stages and game modes not found in the arcade version.
Sales for the Playstation Vita ranked fifth in Japan in the latest retail data from Japan.
The PS Vita sold 9,038 units between July 30 and Aug. 5 to rank as the No. 5 hardware for the week.
By comparison, the hardware sold 10,846 the week prior.
The hardware did not rank any software titles in the top 10.
Meanwhile, the PSP sold 11,824 units to rank at No. 4 in the same period.
Sales for Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox 360 hardware held under 1,000 units in the latest Japan retail figures.
Media Create Co. on Fri. reported that the Xbox 360 sold 981 units between July 30 and Aug. 5 to rank No. 7 in overall sales.
By comparison, the hardware sold 948 units the week prior.
Pre-order sales for the Xbox 360 Halo 4 Limited Edition Bundle gained this week at Amazon.com Inc. due to strong demand.
This week, the Halo 4 Limited Edition Bundle held a 23 percent sales increase to rank at No. 328 in Amazon’s Video Games division.
The Xbox 360 Halo 4 Limited Edition Bundle, to be sold Nov. 6, will include a custom Xbox 360 320GB SKU, two custom wireless controllers, Halo 4 standard edition, custom sounds and custom content at $399.99.
5th Cell this week released Hybrid to the Xbox Live division of Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox 360.
The title, part of Microsoft’s Summer of Arcade initiative, is a third-person multiplayer shooter that offers 3-vs-3 air and ground online combat.
Hybrid includes character customization, 10 maps, six game modes, and an offline practice arena.
Activision Blizzard Inc. this week released the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Content Collection #3 to Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox Live division of the Xbox 360.
Collection #3: Chaos Pack includes four new Spec-Ops Missions: Vertigo, Arctic Region, Light ‘Em Up, and Special Delivery. In addition the pack includes Face-Off Maps Intersection, U-Turn, and Vertigo. A new Chaos Mode allows users to defend against waves of enemies.
Microsoft this week said the multiplayer component of Activision Blizzard Inc.’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 for Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox 360 will debut at the Gamescom convention in Cologne, Germany Aug. 15.
The live multiplayer world premiere will stream live to Xbox Live users in the U.S. and Europe. An on-demand version will be available afterward.
EA Inc.’s NCAA Football 13 was the top-selling video game title in July in U.S. retail data.
NPD Group Inc. this week said NCAA Football 13 ranked as the No. 1-selling game title in July.
Meanwhile, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment Inc.’s LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes ranked at No. 2 and Activision Blizzard Inc.’s The Amazing Spider-Man ranked third in the same period.

The Xbox 360 sold 203,000 units to rank as the No. 1 game hardware for the month in figures provided by NPD Group Inc.

Media Create Co. on Fri. reported that the Wii sold 41,415 units between July 30 and Aug. 5 to rank No. 2 in overall sales.
By comparison, the Wii sold 10,170 units the week prior.
The hardware ranked four titles in the top 10, including Square Enix Holdings Co.’s Dragon Quest X: Mezameshi Itsutsu no Shuzoku Online which sold 367,148 units to rank at No. 1 for the week.
Nintendo this week announced a new free trial to access the new Hulu Plus Family Section exclusive to the Wii console.
From Aug. 10 to Sept. 23, customers can watch children’s programming from the new division, including Bratz, Caillou, and Dragon Ball Z.

Amazon.com Inc. this week announced its first release from Amazon Game Studios, Living Classics.
The new social online game, which allows users to find moving objects in classic fairy tale art, is available to play via Facebook.
The final game allows users to visit friends and share rewards.
