Capcom Co. this week said Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City for Sony Corp.’s Playstation 3, Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox 360, and the PC has sold 2.1 million units to date in global markets.

The title sold an additional 450,000 copies in the Q1 2013 earnings quarter.

The title ranked as the second best-selling game title across all platforms in Mar. U.S. sales according to NPD Group Inc..

Developed by Capcom and Slant 6 Games, Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City is a third-person team-based shooter set between events in Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3.

In the game, users take on the role of an Umbrella Security Services soldier to destroy all evidence of an outbreak and eliminate survivors.

The final game includes four-player co-op functionality and competitive online multiplayer modes between Umbrella Security Service, US Special Ops, zombies and B.O.W enemies, and a Heroes Mode is a four vs. four online competitive multiplayer mode with classic Resident Evil characters.

The Special Edition SKU includes the Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City game, Steelbook with exclusive art, foil sleeve, Umbrella Security Service embroidered patch, Spec Ops Field Unit embroidered patch, and eight bonus weapons at $69.99.

Capcom in Mar. released a new free Spec Ops DLC mission to expand the squad-based shooter. It will sell additional missions in the future.
