Sales for Sony Corp.’s Playstation 3 ranked as the second best-selling hardware in the latest Japan retail activity.
Media Create Co. this week reported the PS3 sold 15,218 units between July 9 and July 15 to rank No. 2 in overall hardware sales.
By comparison, the hardware sold 14,536 units to rank third the week prior.
The PS3 did not rank any titles in the top 10 for the week.
EA Inc. this week said customers who pre-order Medal of Honor: Warfighter will receive access to the Battelfield 4 Beta.
The Battlefield 4 beta will begin fall 2013.
Retailer Amazon.com Inc. this week began offering a $10 bonus with the pre-order purchase of 2K Games’ Borderlands 2.
This week, customers who pre-order the Borderlands 2 PS3, Xbox 360 or PC SKU will receive a $10 bonus towards a future purchase.
In addition, customers who pre-order the title will have access to the Borderlands 2 Premiere Club for in-game bonus items like the Golden Key, Vault Hunter’s Relic, and Gearbox Gunpack.
Sony this week said Ratchet & Clank Collection for the Playstation 3 will be sold Aug. 28.
The title will include a demo of Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time.
Ratchet & Clank Collection will include remastered versions of Ratchet & Clank, Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando, and Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal in 1080p HD or 720p in stereoscopic 3D.
Sony this week Ratchet and Clank: Full Frontal Assault for the Playstation Network division of the Playstation 3 will include a Tower Defense gameplay function.
The Tower Defense element will allow users to build and defend a base against invasions.
Ratchet and Clank: Full Frontal Assault is a download-only title that will include traditional third-person mechanics found in prior entries of the franchise.
The final game is said to include new online co-op functionality and three playable characters.
Sony this week said it will sell a new bundle that includes the Playstation Move controller, Playstation Eye, and a voucher for Ubisoft Inc.’s Just Dance 3 for the Playstation 3.
The Playstation Move Essentials Pack will sell at $69.99.
Sony this week price cut MLB 12 The Show for the Playstation 3 and the Playstation Vita in a permanent retail reduction.
In addition, the Home Run Derby mode is now available to play online via a downloadable update.
Namco Bandai Games America Inc. this week said One Piece: Pirate Warriors for the Playstation Network division will be sold Sept. 25.
Developed by Omega Force / Tecmo Koei Games Co. Ltd., One Piece: Pirate Warriors is a download title that combines the manga franchise with the action of Dynasty Warriors.
In One Piece: Pirate Warriors, the Straw Hat Pirates including Luffy, Zoro, Nami, and others will be equipped with signature moves to combat a massive amount of opponents.
Sales for the Playstation Vita ranked third in Japan in the latest retail data from Japan.
The PS Vita sold 11,388 units between July 9 and July 15 to rank as the No. 3 hardware for the week.
By comparison, the hardware sold 13,758 the week prior.
The PSP ranked one title in the top 10, Level 5’s Time Travelers at No. 8 with 9,887 units sold.
Meanwhile, the PSP sold 11,170 units to rank No. 4 in the same period.
Sales for Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox 360 hardware fell below 700 units in the latest Japan retail figures.
Media Create Co. on Fri. reported that the Xbox 360 sold 686 units between July 9 and July 15 to rank No. 6 in overall sales.
By comparison, the hardware sold 967 units the week prior.
The hardware did not rank any titles in the top 10 for the week.
Microsoft this month said it will sell the Xbox 360 Halo 4 Limited Edition Bundle to U.S. retail Nov. 6.
The Xbox 360 Halo 4 Limited Edition Bundle will include a custom Xbox 360 320GB SKU, two custom wireless controllers, Halo 4 standard edition, custom sounds and custom content at $399.99.
Microsoft this week said it will release Mars Rover Landing, a new download software product in partnership with NASA to allow users to control a virtual Mars Rover.
Beginning Aug. 6, users can download the title via Xbox Live to take control of a virtual spacecraft and experience the challenge of landing the rover on Mars using the Kinect sensor.
The Mars Rover landing is scheduled to take place on Aug. 5.
Namco Bandai Games America Inc. this week said Dragon Ball Z for Kinect will include exclusive new content.
New content includes the Dragon Ball Z anime episode ‘Episode of Bardock’ and Bardock Super Saiyan as a playable character.
Developed by Spike Chunsoft Co. Ltd., Dragon Ball Z for Kinect will include more than 100 motion-based moves and more than 50 playable characters.
Activision Blizzard Inc. this week released Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater HD to the Playstation Network and Xbox Live.
Developed by Robomodo, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater HD is a digital download title that includes new high-definition graphics and online functionality.
The title will be sold Sept. 11 via PSN for $9.99 and Sept. 12 via Xbox Live for 800 Microsoft Points.
Developed by WayForward, the title is said to be an 80’s retake on the arcade classic, with new graphics, a mix tape level-up system, and power-up high fives.

Media Create Co. on Fri. reported that the Wii sold 6,660 units between July 9 and July 15 to rank No. 5 in overall sales.
By comparison, the Wii sold 6,818 units the week prior.
The hardware ranked one title in the top 10, Mario Party 9 at No. 10.
EA Inc. this week said Mass Effect 3 for Nintendo Co.’s Wii U will include the Extended Cut DLC released this summer.
The Extended Cut endings will override the original ending sequences released with the final product in Mar.
The Extended Cut DLC contains additional cinematic sequences and epilogue scenes to provide context and clarity to the ending.
Pre-order sales for New Super Mario Bros. Wii U for the Wii U hardware ranked in the top 35 at Wal-Mart Stores Inc.’s online division due to building demand.
This week, New Super Mario Bros. Wii U ranked as the No. 33 best-selling pre-order title at Walmart.com’s Video Games division.
New Super Mario Bros. Wii U will include brand new 5-player co-op gameplay that utilizes the Wii U GamePad.
Sales for Nintendo Co.’s Nintendo 3DS held the top sales rank in Japan in the latest retail data from the region.
Media Create Co. this week said the Nintendo 3DS sold 46,663 units between July 9 and July 15 to rank as the No. 1 game hardware for the week.
The hardware sold 52,421 the week prior.
The 3DS ranked five titles in top 10, including Taiko No Tatsujin at No. 2, Pocket Soccer League at No. 3, Little Battlers eXperience: Explosive Boost at No. 4, Dragon Quest Monsters: Terry’s Wonderland 3D at No. 5, Etrian Odyssey IV at No. 7, and Time Travelers at No. 9.
Meanwhile, the Nintendo DSi sold 430 units for the week.
Square Enix Holdings Co., Ltd. this week released Heroes of Ruin for the Nintendo 3DS to U.S. retail.
Heroes of Ruin is an action RPG with drop-in, drop-out online multiplayer functionality.
The title includes character customization from four classes, including fight style and armor set.
