Target Corp. this week began offering a $20 credit with the purchase of Nintendo Co.’s Nintendo 3DS following lower-than-expected sales for the handheld.
This week, customers who purchase the Nintendo 3DS will receive a $20 Gift Card at no additional cost.
Nintendo in Apr. recorded a $460 million loss for the fiscal year amid lower-than-expected sales of the Nintendo 3DS handheld and the Wii console.
It sold 13.5 million Nintendo 3DS handhelds, down from a target of 16 million.
It shipped about five million Nintendo DS units.
Nintendo launched the Nintendo 3DS handheld with 18 software titles Mar. 27.
The hardware includes two screens, a 3D Depth Slider, a Circle Pad, a 2GB SD Card and 3-D display technology that does not require the use of special glasses.
