Sales for Nintendo Co.’s Wii hardware hovered at 6,000 units in retail data from Japan.

Media Create Co. on Fri. reported that the Wii sold 6,029 units between June 4 and June 10 to rank No. 5 in overall sales.

By comparison, the Wii sold 5,825 units the week prior.

Mario Party 9 ranked as the No. 6 best-selling software for the week. It has sold 417,643 units in the region to date.

Nintendo in Apr. recorded a $460 million loss for the fiscal year amid lower-than-expected sales of the Nintendo 3DS handheld and the Wii console.

In the year it sold 9.8 million Wii consoles, down from an estimate of 13 million.

The Wii holds a global install base of 51 million units.

Nintendo will release Wii U, the successor the Wii hardware, in 2012.
