Aliens: Colonial Marines
Sega Corp. and Gearbox Software’s Aliens: Colonial Marines looks to incorporate every aspect of James Cameron’s sci-fi masterpiece and allow fans to experience every nook and cranny of the universe with pulse-pounding rifle action. The multiplayer session that pitted armed marines against a batch of fast and crafty Xenomorphs oozed with intense gameplay and a brooding, authentic atmosphere.
The Last of Us
Sony Corp. and Naughty Dog Inc.’s The Last of Us was positioned to be a new kind of action title and the preview did not disappoint. From unpredictable AI to fierce melee struggles, the action drama looks to up the ante in realistic survival tactics.
Ubisoft Inc.’s ZombiU is a fresh new take and a tried and true formula that made the most out of the Wii U GamePad. From strategizing zombie deployment from the GamePad to surviving a zombie onslaught in first-person mode, the title utilizes the most of what the Wii U has to offer for a unique undead experience.
The Wii U had a lot to prove as a new form of game playing entertainment. While more third-party support should have been defined, what was on display demonstrated the enormous possibilities for the hardware. From asymmetrical gameplay between the Wii U GamePad and the television, to complete game and entertainment streaming to the GamePad, the hardware offers HD muscle and the controller innovation for developers to deploy a new play experience.
