EA Inc. this week demonstrated the multiplayer component of Medal of Honor: Warfighter for Sony Corp.’s Playstation 3, Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox 360, and the PC at the Electronic Entertainment Expo.
The capture the flag multiplayer session supported 16 players in an eight vs. eight battle.
Users could choose from multiple loadouts based on global Tier 1 units. The standard assault loadout utilized a scope-based rifle with new optional actions, including the ability to deploy a small remote-plane to attack enemies.
Hit detection was solid with enemies killed in seconds. Each opponent held a marker above his head to clearly indicate friend from foe.
The graphics engine in the PC demo held a 60 frames-per-second with detailed character models and a solid outdoor location.
Developed by Danger Close, Medal of Honor: Warfighter will utilize the Frostbite 2.0 engine and include two Navy SEALs and AFO Team Neptune Members Mother and Preacher.
The multiplayer component will be developed by Danger Close and will include a Hardcore Mode and Co-op Mode.
It will be sold Oct. 23.
Pre-order customers will receive a free upgrade to the Limited Edition SKU to unlock the Navy SEAL Tier 1 Sniper Class. The Multiplayer Unlock is said to take an estimated 40-hours of time in normal play.
Medal of Honor, released in 2010, sold five million copies at global retail.
