Sony Corp. this week demonstrated God of War: Ascension for the Playstation 3 at the Electronic Entertainment Expo.
The point-based multiplayer mode held decent attack variety with two standard attacks each with an alternate by holding L1. In addition, a new grapple function can puncture and pull an enemy towards the user when an indicator flashes.
A large Cyclops boss stood nearby which could be killed with the Spear or Olympus. The first player from a team to nab the weapon can approach the boss to stab his eye in a cinematic sequence that yields the team a large point bonus.
The graphics engine was solid at 30 frames-per-second. The panned-out view managed to produce detailed models, levels, and the enormous Cyclops boss.
God of War: Ascension, which is a prequel to the God of War franchise, will feature Kratos prior to his consumption of rage when he breaks a blood-oath to an unjust god.
The final game will include a revamped combat and weapon system, mini-games, and new puzzle challenges.
Sony in Mar. 2010 released God of War III to the PS3.
