Ubisoft Inc. this week demonstrated ZombiU for the Wii U at the Electronic Entertainment Expo.

Zombie held two distinctly different experiences in two player Capture the Flag local co-op.

A user with the Wii U Pro Controller will play a traditonal first-person shooter game to capture flags while fending off zombies. Control was solid with good default aim properties and button access to reload and change weapons. Weapons like the shotgun blew off chunks of zombie flesh and equipment aids like syringes help fend off zombies that grapple the player.

The user with the Wii U GamePad uses the touchscreen to view a map of the level to command the horde of zombies attacking the other player. The commander must choose between specific types of zombies including guard zombies to guard the Flag and attack zombies that mob the opponent.

The dynamic made the experience completely unique for both sides. A representive said the versus mode is currently local only.

The graphics engine was solid at 30 frames-per-second. Textures and zombie detail was high with detailed gore and environments.

The Wii U will be released in 2012.
