Tecmo Koei Corp. this week demonstrated Dead or Alive 5 for Sony Corp.’s Playstation 3 and Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox 360.

The demo included a return of veteran characters like Hitomi, Bauman, Christie and Zack. Controls were very polished with a more technical attack cadence in combination with fluid reversal and throw options.

The graphics engine was excellent at 60 frames-per-second. Characters and environments were detailed to current next-gen specifications and included more mutli-tiered levels to bash opponents in.

Dead or Alive 5, to be sold in Sept., will include a wide variety of martial arts techniques that marry the individual personalities of each fighter.

The final game will include new 3D stages that include obstacles and changes as the fight progresses.
