Namco Bandai Games America Inc. this week demonstrated Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch for Sony Corp.’s Playstation 3 at the Electronic Entertainment Expo.
The demo included a lush overhead world with cel-shaded enemies that users can walk toward to combat.
In combat, users can send one of three characters to battle. In battle, users can control the character with the left analog stick, and deploy attack and defense options via face buttons.
In addition, users can press left or right on the direction pad to scroll through attack, spell, and item options in real-time.
Control was solid in the preview build with users able to easily combat enemies while choosing active combat options.
The graphics engine was stunning at 30 frames-per-second. Allies and enemies all held generous animation and inventive character design to relay an animation quality to the title.
Developed by Level-5 and Studio Ghibli, Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch is a role-playing title in which a young boy who loses his mother traverses between the real world and the fantasy world when a doll passed on from his mother comes to life.
The title will include action-based battles and additional party characters that be controlled dynamically.
Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch will be sold in early 2013.
