Sony Corp. this week said it will sell the Wonderbook for the Playstation 3.

The Wonderbook will include a physical book in combination with the Playstation Eye camera and the Playstation Move to deliver educational and scientific titles that will allow images to project to the television from the book.

The first title to be published for Wonderbook will be Book of Spells by J.K. Rowling.

The title will include puzzles and challenges in which users utilize the Playstation Move as a wand that can manipulate the virtual book. Another demonstration included an Augmented Reality 3D model that be rotated by moving the physical book in front of the Playstation Eye.

Sony in May recorded a $2.8 billion loss in the Playstation division due to declining sales of console and handheld products.

For the fiscal year ending Mar. 31, 2012, the PS3 sold 13.9 million units, down from 14.3 million in 2011. It sold 1.9 million units in the quarter.

PS3 software sales increased 8.7 million units in the year to 156.6 million units.

It expects console sales to fall to 16 million units next fiscal year.
