Capcom Co. this month demonstrated DmC: Devil May Cry for Sony Corp.’s Playstation 3 and Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox 360 in a pre-Electronic Entertainment Event in Los Angeles.

In the preview, users take control of a revamped Dante which includes standard gun and sword gameplay in addition to new enhancements.

New enhancements include the ability to pull enemies toward you execute attacks quickly. In addition, users can deploy a whip to lift himself to higher platforms or pull objects to break them.

The standard sword play is polished, with Dante able to slash one enemy to the next with ease. Shooting is now a stun option that deploys a mass of bullets with each button press.

Limbo Town, the new location of DmC, changes dynamically to require Dante to yield new platforming skills. In one section, the ground breaks apart to require Dante to whip and lift himself over the chasm. Also, new dead-ends are formed as Dante maneuvers through the world.

The graphics engine was decent at 30 frames-per-second. While franchise die-hards will miss the 60-frames-per-second action, the current frame rate is still able to deliver quick and effective combat.

DmC: Devil May Cry will be sold Jan. 15, 2013.
