Media Create Co. this week reported the PS3 sold 12,996 units between May 7 and May 13 to rank No. 3 in overall hardware sales.
By comparison, the hardware sold 23,478 units to rank third the week prior.
U.S. retailers this week began pre-order sales for the Playstation 3 Modern Warfare 3 Bundle.
The bundle, to be sold May 25, will include the PS3 320GB SKU, a copy of Activision Blizzard Inc.’s Modern Warfare 3, and a Dualshock 3 Controller at $299.99.
Retailer Amazon.com Inc. this week began offering a discounted Navigation Controller for the Playstation 3 with the purchase of Sorcery.
In the new offer, customers who purchase Sorcery can purchase the Navigation Controller at $14.99, 50 percent off the $29.99 MSRP.
Sony Corp. this released the Ambush Trailer for The Last of Us for the Playstation 3.
The Ambush Trailer features characters Joel and Ellie in a pick-up truck as they are ambushed by unfriendly survivors.
Developed by Naughty Dog Inc., The Last of Us is said to include survival and action elements amid abandoned cities decimated by a plague. Users will guide to survivors to journey across the U.S.
Sorcery, to be sold May 22, is a third-person action adventure title that requires the Playstation Move peripheral to allow user to cast powerful spells and solve puzzles.
Sony this week said Ubisoft Inc.’s I Am Alive led game sales for the Playstation Network division in Apr. U.S. data.
I Am Alive ranked as the No. 1 PSN and PS3 Full Games in Jan. The top five titles included Journey at No. 2, SkullGirls at No. 3, The Walking Dead – Episode 1: A New Day at No. 4 and The House of the Dead 4 at No. 5.
Top PS3 Add-Ons included Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Collection 1, MLB The Show Road to the Show Training Points and Call of Duty: Black Ops Rezzurection: Content Pack 4.
Top PSP Games included Monster Hunter Freedom Unite, Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions, and Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 Portable.
Telltale Games this week said The Walking Dead: Episode 1 – A New Day has sold one million units across all platforms in the first two weeks of availability.
The interactive adventure title, which began sale in late Apr., was released to the Playstation Network, Xbox Live, PC and Mac.
It ranked as the No. 1 download title in PSN, Xbox Live, and Steam at launch.
Sales for the Playstation Vita declined in the latest Japan retail figures.
The PS Vita sold 10,583 units between May 7 and May 13 to rank as the No. 4 hardware for the week.
By comparison, the hardware sold 10,583 the week prior.
The PS Vita did not rank any software titles in the top 10.
Meanwhile, the PSP sold 12,247 units to rank No. 3 in the same period.
Sony this week said the title Smart As will be available for the Playstation Vita this fall.
Developed by XDev Europe, Smart As is a brain training title that includes 20 puzzles games that utilize the PS Vita hardware, from touch screens, cameras, to Augmented Reality.

PSP titles include Cho Aniki Zero, Strikers 1945 Plus, Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Vegas, Valhalla Knights 2: Battle Stance, and Ys: 1 & II Chronicles Digital.

Media Create Co. on Fri. reported that the Xbox 360 sold 1,023 units between May 7 and May 13 to rank No. 7 in overall sales.
By comparison, the hardware sold 1,420 units the week prior.
The hardware did not rank any software titles in the top 10 for the week.
Microsoft this week announced the Halo 4 Limited Edition SKU for the Xbox 360.
The Halo 4 Limited Edition SKU will include War Game Map Packs for access to nine maps, early access to six Specializations to access new ranks and new customization options, Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn – a 90-minute extended version of the live action digital series, and bonus digital content to download via Xbox Live.
The Limited Edition SKU will sell at $99.99.
Microsoft this week announced Forza Horizon for the Xbox 360 will be sold this fall.
Developed by Playground Games with Turn 10 Studios, Forza Horizon is said to include an open-road world that will allow users to explore the territory.
Microsoft this week said Minecraft for the Xbox 360 has sold one million units in the first week of sale in the Xbox Live Arcade divison.
The title has held 5.2 million online hours of play, four million total multiplayer sessions played, and 2.4 million hours of multiplayer sessions since launch.
Activision Blizzard Inc. this week deployed the new Face-Off Mode for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 for Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox 360.
Face-Off will include 1 vs. 1 or 2 vs. 2 matches in mode-specific maps.
The new maps, which include Erosion, Aground, Getaway, and Lookout are smaller and offer more player engagement opportunities.
In addition, the mode will support two-player split-screen functionality.
Erosion and Aground maps are now available at no cost.
Take Two Interactive Inc. this week released Max Payne 3 to U.S. retail.
Developed by Rockstar Games’, Max Payne 3 includes a single-player campaign and introduces online multiplayer functionality to the action franchise.
Sales for Nintendo Co.’s Wii hardware fell in latest retail data from Japan.
Media Create Co. on Fri. reported that the Wii sold 6,073 units between May 7 and May 13 to rank No. 5 in overall sales.
By comparison, the Wii sold 15,789 units the week prior.
Mario Party 9 ranked as the No. 1 best-selling software for the week, selling 37,353 units in its third week at retail.
Nintendo this week said Mario Tennis and Pikmin 2 will be sold as part of the Nintendo Selects program for the Wii console June 10.
Mario Tennis includes fan-favorite Mushroom Kingdom characters in tennis court battles for up to four players with Mario-style power-ups.
Pikmin 2 includes new updated controls optimized for the Wii to help Captain Olimar salvage parts to return them to their home planet.
Both titles will sell at $19.99 each.
Sales for Nintendo Co.’s Nintendo 3DS held at No. 1 in Japan in the latest retail data from the region.
Media Create Co. this week said the Nintendo 3DS sold 46,425 units between May 7 and May 13 to rank as the No. 1 game hardware for the week.
The hardware sold 91,868 the week prior.
The 3DS ranked seven titles in the top 10, including Fire Emblem: Awakening at No. 2, Super Mario 3D Land at No. 5, Monster Hunter 3G at No. 6, Mario Kart 7 at No. 7, Kid Icarus: Uprising at No. 8, and Mario and Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games at No. 9.
Meanwhile, the Nintendo DSi LL sold 819 units and the Nintendo DSi sold 387 units for the week.
Nintendo this week said it will release two new downloadable Pokemon titles to the Nintendo eShop division of the Nintendo 3DS.
Pokemon Dream Radar and Pokedex 3D Pro will be sold in fall 2012. Each title is said to expand the experience for users who play Pokemon Black Version 2 and Pokemon White Version 2 on the Nintendo 3DS.
Pokemon Dream Radar utilizes the 3DS camera, motion control, and augmented reality to catch hidden Pokemon by moving the handheld. Caught Pokemon can be transferred to Pokemon Black Version 2 and Pokemon White Version 2.
Pokedex 3D Pro will include information on more than 600 Pokemon with sorting, comparison and ranking tools and the ability to take photos of Pokemon in the real world.
Square Enix Co. Ltd. this week announced the Kingdom Hearts 3D Dream Drop Distance Collector’s Edition for the Nintendo 3DS.
The Kingdom Hearts 3D Dream Drop Distance Collector’s Edition will include five AR cards, 12 Art Cards, Kingdom Hearts 10th Anniversary 3DS Protector Case, and a premium custom box at $54.99.
Activision Blizzard Inc. this week released Diablo III for the PC to U.S. retail.
Diablo III is an action role-playing sequel that will include single-player and drop-in, drop-out co-op via the Battle.net service.
The final game includes five character classes, static and randomly generated levels, and skill-modifiers.
Capcom Co. this week released Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City for the PC
The title is available for purchase at Steam, EA Origin, Gamers Gate, and GameStop.
The PC version adds support for variable resolution settings, full-screen mode, and keyboard support.
