Microsoft Corp. will announce a new music service dubbed Woodstock for the Xbox 360 and platforms, according to a new report.
The Verge this week claims the Woodstock service will hold cross-platform functionality between the Xbox 360, Windows 8, Google Inc.’s Android and Apple Inc.’s iOS.
The service is said to offer integration with Facebook and the ability to scan and match a current user’s music library.
The report concludes Microsoft will announce the service at the Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles next month.
The Xbox 360 sold 371,000 units to rank as the No. 1 game hardware in Mar. in figures provided by NPD Group Inc.
In addition, it currently holds 40 million Xbox Live members.
