Sales for Sony Corp.’s Playstation 3 held as the second best-selling hardware in the latest Japan retail activity.
Media Create Co. this week reported the PS3 sold 19,370 units between Apr. 2 and Apr. 8 to rank No. 2 in overall hardware sales.
By comparison, the hardware sold 23,777 to rank third the week prior.
The hardware ranked one titles in the top 10, including Konami Corp.’s Pro Baseball Spirits 2012 at No. 4. It ranked at No. 2 the week prior.
Capcom Co. this week said Resident Evil 6 will be sold Oct. 2.
It was previously scheduled to be sold Nov. 20.
A new trailer features new details in the game, including the outbreak of the C-Virus and the return of key franchise characters like Ada Wong and Sherry Birkin.
New features in Resident Evil 6 include play between three main characters, Leon S. Kennedy, Chris Redfiend, and Jake Muller. Each character will have a unique gameplay tone.
In addition, the title will include single-player or co-op play offline or online.
Capcom Co. this week said it will release Lost Planet 3 for the PS3, Xbox 360, and the PC in early 2013.
Lost Planet 3 is a prequel to first two installments and will take place in the icy conditions of E.D.N. III.
Players take the role of blue collar worker Jim to earn hazard pay for his family.
The title includes third-person combat and first-person combat in a utility rig. The utility rig allows users to explore the land, set up thermal posts, and report back to the hub area.
The final game will include more Akrid enemies and a full set of multiplayer modes.
Atlus Inc. this week released Persona 3 FES to the Playstation Network division of the Playstation 3.
Persona 3 FES, released in 2008 for the Playstation 2, is a deluxe release of Persona 3 that includes a Hard Mode, new Social Link with new Arcana, new Weapon Fusion System, and a new epilogue chapter called ‘The Answer’.
Persona 3 is a role-playing title in which high-school students battle demons while managing a social life between classes.
Sony this week said it will release The Legend of Dragoon to the Playstation Network division of the Playstation 3 May 1.
The title, released in June 2000 for the Playstation, included turn-based battles and the Additions combat system.
The final game included 3D backgrounds in 2D pre-rendered backgrounds.
Namco Bandai Games America Inc. this week said it will release One Piece: Pirate Warriors to the Playstation Network division of the Playstation 3.
Developed by Omega Force / Tecmo Koei Games Co. Ltd., One Piece: Pirate Warriors is a download title that combines the manga franchise with the action of Dynasty Warriors.
In One Piece: Pirate Warriors, the Straw Hat Pirates including Luffy, Zoro, Nami, and others will be equipped with signature moves to combat a massive amount of opponents.
One Piece: Pirate Warriors will be sold in 2012.
Starhawk for the Playstation 3 ranked in the top 15 game sales at GameStop Corp.’s online division this week due to building demand.
This week, Starhawk ranked as the No. 13 best-selling pre-order product at GameStop.com.
Starhawk, to be sold May 8, will include a single-player campaign and online multiplayer functionality.
The title will include ground, vehicle, and flight combat. In addition, users can earn Rift Energy to build items like turrets and supply houses to aid in battle.
Square Enix Holdings Co. Ltd. this week announced it will sell the Hitman Absolution Professional Edition SKU.
The Profession Edition SKU includes the Hitman Art Book, Agency Gun Pack DLC, and Making Of DVD at $79.99.
Customers who pre-order the title will receive the exclusive Bartoli Custom Pistol.
Developed by IO Interactive, Hitman Absolution is a stealth action title to include traditional franchise mechanics and new gameplay options.

The PS Vita sold 8,931 units between Apr. 2 and Apr. 8 to rank as the No. 4 hardware for the week.
By comparison, the hardware sold 12,105 the week prior.
Konami Corp.’s Pro Baseball Spirits 2012 ranked No. 11 upon release in the region.
Meanwhile, the PSP sold 14,804 units to rank third in the same period.
Capcom Co. this week Street Fighter X Tekken for the Playstation Vita will include cross-platform play with the Playstation 3.
Cross-platform play functionality will allow owners of either SKU to fight each other online.
In addition, customers who purchase the PS Vita SKU, which includes 12 new characters, will automatically receive the characters as free DLC for the PS3 SKU.

The Xbox 360 sold 371,000 units to rank as the No. 1 game hardware for the month in figures provided by NPD Group Inc.
The figure was down from 433,000 units one year ago.
The ranking marks the 15th consecutive month the Xbox 360 has ranked as the No. 1 hardware in the states. In addition, the hardware held above 40 percent share of total next-generation console sales.

Four-player online co-op functionality is available for a variety of maps to allow users to earn new unlockable items to customize their Vertical Tanks.

Microsoft this week said Bethesda Softworks’ Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim for the Xbox 360 will offer Kinect support in a new download patch later this month.

Developed by Spike Chunsoft Co. Ltd., Dragon Ball Z for Kinect will include more than 100 motion-based moves and more than 50 playable characters.
The title will offer a first-person view for dramatic battles created from the manga series.
The final game will include a Story mode to perform franchise attacks and movements, in addition to a Score Attack mode for one-on-one score-based battles.

The DLC is available at no cost to owners.
Namco Bandai Games America Inc. this week said it will release Tekken Tag Tournament 2 in Sept.
Tekken Tag Tournament 2 will include more than 50 characters and new stages set in global locations.
The title will include one-on-one battles and one vs. tag team fights. In addition, the title will include Pair Play mode to allow four players to control each fighter in a two-on-two bout.
Ubisoft Inc. this week released the Multiplayer Trailer for Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Future Soldier.
The Multiplayer Trailer includes in-game competitive action in which users can cloak, shock, and deploy a drone to take out enemies.
Ghost Recon: Future Soldier, to be sold May 22, includes an all-new, 12-hour single-player campaign in 12 missions, four-player online campaign co-op functionality, competitive multiplayer mode for up to 16, and Gunsmith Mode to create custom weapons for use in all game modes.

Sales for Nintendo Co.’s Wii hardware fell to nearly 7,000 units in latest retail data from Japan.
Media Create Co. on Fri. reported that the Wii sold 7,099 units between Apr. 2 and Apr. 8 to rank No. 5 in overall sales.
By comparison, the Wii sold 9,292 units the week prior.
The hardware did not rank any titles in the top 10 game sales.
Nintendo’s Wii U hardware will cost $180 to manufacture and sell at around $300 U.S. according to a new report.
Consumer website Forget The Box this week claimed the total bill of materials to manufacture the Wii U are estimated to be $180.
Costs include the touch-screen controller at $50, the NFC (near-field communication) chip at $5, and controller cameras at $6.
The bill of materials does not include marketing and research and development costs.
Sales for the Nintendo 3DS held as the top-selling game hardware in Japan in the latest retail data from the region.
Media Create Co. this week said the Nintendo 3DS sold 72,115 units between Apr. 2 and Apr. 8 to rank as the No. 1 game hardware for the week.
The hardware sold 121,921 the week prior.
The 3DS ranked five titles in the top 10 for the week, including Square Enix Co.’s Kingdom Hearts 3D – Dream Drop Distance at No. 2, Kid Icarus: Uprising at No. 5, Super Mario 3D Land at No. 6, Capcom Co.’s Monster Hunter 3G at No. 8, Mario Kart 7 at No. 9, and Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games at No. 10.
Meanwhile, the Nintendo DSi LL sold 793 units and the Nintendo DSi sold 743 units for the week.
Nintendo this week said it will offer access to free sports highlight videos at Nintendo Zone locations when using the Nintendo 3DS.
Beginning Apr. 14, users can stream highlights from NBA Digital, MLB.com and the Barclays Premier League from FOX Soccer at more than 27,000 Nintendo Zone locations across the U.S.
New videos will include highlights, top 10 plays and recaps.
In addition, fans can save 3D images from sports highlights to their 3DS hardware.
