The Nielsen Company this week said Ubisoft Inc.’s Assassin’s Creed III and Rockstar Games’ Max Payne 3 ranked as the most anticipated game titles in 2012 for Sony Corp.’s Playstation 3 and Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox 360.
Assassin’s Creed III ranked as the No. 2 most anticipated title for the Xbox 360 with a 94 percent anticipation level. The title ranked No. 1 for the PS3 with a 98 percent anticipation level.
Assassin’s Creed III, set in Mohawk Valley in 1777, features an all-new Native American warrior protagonist in a fight to protect his land and ignite a revolution.
It will be sold Oct. 30.
Max Payne 3 ranked as the third most anticipated title for the Xbox 360 with a 91 percent anticipation level. It ranked No. 2 for the PS3 with a 96 percent anticipation level.
Developed by Rockstar Games’, Max Payne 3, to be sold in May 15, includes a single-player campaign and introduces online multiplayer functionality to the action franchise.
It will be sold May 15.
Nielsen said the anticipation level was derived from combining eight key consumer metrics, including Awareness and Purchase Interest, into one overall score.
Other top titles for 2012 include Halo 4, Resident Evil 6, and Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two.
