Sales for Sony Corp.’s Playstation 3 held as the second best-selling hardware in the latest Japan retail activity.
Media Create Co. this week reported the PS3 sold 23,777 units between Mar. 26 and Apr. 1 to rank No. 2 in overall hardware sales.
By comparison, the hardware sold 25,750 to rank third the week prior.
The hardware ranked two titles in the top 10, including Konami Corp.’s Pro Baseball Spirits 2012 at No. 2 and Namco Bandai Games Inc.’s The Idolmaster: Gravure For You! Vol. 6 at No. 10.
Sony in Jan. said it sold 6.5 million PS3 units in Q3, an increase of 200,000 units one year prior. PS3 software sales totaled 66.5 million units, an increase from 57.6 million units one year ago.
The Consumer Products and Services division, which includes the Playstation business, recorded revenue of $13.1 billion, down from $17.3 billion one year ago.
