Microsoft Corp.’s Anomaly: Warzone Earth for the Xbox Live Arcade division of the Xbox 360 is a solid real-time strategy title that allows users to command a fleet of machinery through dangerous warzones.
Developed by 11 bit studios, Anomaly: Warzone Earth, features a top-down overhead map view of a warzone location. In each level, users control an on-field commander to guide a band of tanks, crawlers and other mobile units through enemy turrets to and endpoint.
In addition, the commander can walk near damaged units and deploy health which heals nearby units.
Enemies include lighting based roadblocks that force users to change their route immediately, or gun turrets that fire at tanks and the commander.
Ally mobile units will automatically return fire to destroy enemy turrets. In addition, ally bombers will drop additional supplies to heal mobile units, or the company will grant access to funds to purchase additional mobile units.
The graphics engine is solid at 30 frames-per-second. War zone maps are detailed and the guide map relays quick and easy route plotting. Music includes ambient vocal chants and vocal chatter to maintain intensity.
Anomaly: Warzone Earth is a quick and easy strategy title. The title deploys an easy setup for casual fans and enough quick decision-plotting for real-time strategy enthusiasts.
