XSEED Games this week said it will release The Unchained Blades to Nintendo Co.’s Nintendo 3DS and Sony Corp.’s PSP handheld in 2012.

Developed by FuRyu, The Unchained Blades includes 13 main characters each created by a different artist, Unchain System to try to convince monsters to follow and join the user’s four-person party, and 60 hours of gameplay.

The final game was directed by Toshio Akashi of the Lunar series, and written by Takashi Hino from the Grandia series.

The Nintendo 3DS version will be sold at retail while the PSP SKU will be sold as a digital download.
