Retailers Best Buy Co. Inc. and Target Corp. this week began offering a $20 Gift Card with the purchase of Nintendo Co.’s Wii hardware in a new spring sales initiative.
Through Mar. 17, customers who purchase the Wii Black Console Bundle with New Super Mario Bros. Wii at Best Buy or Target will receive a $20 Gift Card at no additional cost.
Nintendo in Jan. lowered its full-year forecast due to a strong yen and weakened demand for game hardware.
The company estimated a full year net loss of 65 billion yen ($838 million), compared to a loss of 20 billion yen.
The Wii holds a global install base of 51 million units.
Nintendo will release Wii U, the successor the Wii hardware, in 2012.
