Sales for Sony Corp.’s Playstation 3 were stable in the latest Japan retail activity.
Media Create Co. this week reported the PS3 sold 27,111 units between Feb. 20 and Feb.26 to rank No. 3 in overall hardware sales.
By comparison, the hardware sold 21,993 to rank third the week prior.
The hardware ranked three titles in the top 10, including Bandai Namco Games Inc.’s Naruto Shippuden: Narutimate Storm Generation at No. 3 and Capcom Co.’s Asura’s Wrath at No. 5.
Sony this week said it will offer a $20 discount to consumers who purchase MLB 12 The Show for the Playstation 3 and the Playstation Vita in the same transaction.
Beginning Mar. 6, customers can purchase the MLB 12 The Show PS3 SKU and PS Vita SKU at $79.99, $20 less than the combined purchase price of each SKU.
Naughty Dog Inc. and Sony Corp. this week Patch 1.06 to Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception for the Playstation 3.
Patch 1.06 includes new gameplay, technical, and server updates.
Patches include the ability to melee when reloading a gun, improved Mute functionality, and an exploit fix with thrown objects used to escape level boundaries.
In addition, the patch includes technical hooks for the upcoming Co-Op Shade Survival Mode.
Sony this week released Killzone 3 Multiplayer to the Playstation Network division of the Playstation 3.
The multiplayer component is free to play and includes Guerrilla Warfare, Warzone, and Operations game modes.
Users can play until the rank of Sergeant 1 before a prompt to unlock the full version at $14.99.
The full version includes four exclusive new Trophies, 24-hour Double XP Bonus, Three Unlock Points, Clans, Custom Games, and Botzone Mode.
Namco Bandai America Inc.’s Tales of Graces f for the Playstation 3 trekked to the top 10 pre-order sales at GameStop Corp.’s online division pending release of the RPG title.
Tales of Graces f, to be sold Mar. 13, includes a new combat system, dynamic weapon swap functionality, high-definition graphics, and exclusive content.
Retailer Amazon.com Inc. this week began offering a free copy of Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception with the purchase of Sony Corp.’s Playstation 3 320GB SKU in a new hardware initiative.
This week, customers who purchase the PS3 320GB SKU will receive Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception at no additional cost.
Sales for Sony Corp.’s Playstation Vita sunk to a new low in the latest Japan retail figures.
The PS Vita sold 11,186 units between Feb. 20 and Feb. 26 to rank as the No. 4 hardware for the week.
By comparison, the hardware sold 12,309 the week prior.
The sales marked a new low in demand for the PS Vita since launch of the hardware in Japan Dec. 17.
Sony this week said sales of the Playstation Vita handheld have reached 1.2 million units at global retail.
The hardware launched Feb. 22 in the U.S., Latin America, Europe and PAL territories.
It had previously sold more than 500,000 units post launch in Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan and South Korea.
In addition, PS Vita software sales have totaled two million units worldwide at retail and the Playstation Network.
Sony this week said Gravity Rush for the Playstation Vita will be sold June 12 at U.S. retail.
Gravity Rush is a third-person action title to be released in May.
The title includes gyroscope functionality to allow users to tilt the hardware to aid in battle.
Zipper Interactive Inc. this week said Unit 13 for the Playstation Vita ranked as the top download title for the handheld in the U.S.
The company this week tweeted thanks to all consumers who downloaded the free game demo.
Unit 13 is a new third-person action shooter that will include 36 missions in nine locations.

Media Create Co. on Fri. reported that the Xbox 360 sold 1,508 units between Feb. 20 and Feb. 26 to rank No. 6 in overall sales.
By comparison, the hardware sold 983 units to rank at No. 6 the week prior.
The hardware did not rank any software titles in the top 10 for the week.
EA Inc. this month said it will release Medal of Honor: Warfighter Oct. 23.
Developed by Danger Close, the sequel to Medal of Honor will utilize the Frostbite 2.0 engine and include two Navy SEALs and AFO Team Neptune Members Mother and Preacher.
The multiplayer component will be developed by Danger Close and will include a Hardcore Mode and Co-op Mode.
Pre-order sales for Bioware Inc. and EA Inc.’s Mass Effect 3 led advanced demand this week at Wal-Mart Stores Inc.’s online division pending release of the title.

This week, customers who pre-order Ghost Recon: Future Soldier will receive the exclusive Drilling Ship Co-Op Map.
The Drilling Ship Co-Op Map is said to include harsh Artic conditions on a massive drilling ship.

Capcom Co.’s Street Fighter X Tekken Special Edition SKU for Sony Corp.’s Playstation 3 and Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox 360 ranked in the top 25 pre-order sales at GameStop Corp.’s online division pending release of the title.
Street Fighter X Tekken, to be sold Mar. 6, is a new 2D fighting title that includes tag team matches between iconic characters in each franchise.
2K Games, a division of Take Two Interactive Inc., this week said Bioshock Infinite for Sony Corp.’s Playstation 3, Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox 360 and the PC will be sold Oct. 19 at U.S. retail.
Bioshock Infinite is a first-person shooter title to be released in 2012.
The new installment will include a new protagonist hired to rescue a young woman said to be held in a sky city called Columbia.
New gameplay includes aerial combat and high-speed Sky-Lines.
Sales for Nintendo Co.’s Wii hardware held at under 8,000 units in the latest retail data from Japan.
Media Create Co. on Fri. reported that the Wii sold 7,878 units between Feb. 20 and Feb. 26 to rank No. 5 in overall sales.
By comparison, the Wii sold 7,874 units the week prior.
The hardware did not rank any titles in the top 100 game sales.
Pre-order sales for XSEED Games’ The Last Story to Nintendo Co.’s Wii increased this week at Amazon.com Inc. amid building demand for the title.
Developed by Mistwalker, The Last Story is an RPG title that features a band of adventurers in a cinematic adventure.
Nintendo this week released PokePark 2: Wonders Beyond to the Wii hardware.
PokePark 2: Wonders Beyond is a new Pokemon adventure in which Pikachu and pals discover mysteries to save missing Pokemon.
Game modes include activities, battles and attractions like chase, hide-and-seek, head-to-head battles, and support for up to four players.
Sales for Nintendo Co.’s Nintendo 3DS held at the No. 1 rank in Japan in the latest retail data from the region.
Media Create Co. this week said the Nintendo 3DS sold 76,322 units between Feb. 20 and Feb. 26 to rank as the No. 1 game hardware for the week.
The hardware sold 94,667 the week prior.
The 3DS ranked four titles in the top 10 for the week, including Marvel AQL’s Harvest Moon: The Land of Origin at No. 2, Super Mario 3D Land at No. 7, Mario Kart 7 at No. 8, and Capcom Co.’s Monster Hunter 3G at No. 9.
Meanwhile, the Nintendo DSi LL sold 977 units and the Nintendo DSi sold 662 units for the week.
New characters include the Black Kyurem and White Kyurem.
The titles will be compatible with Nintendo DS and Nintendo 3DS hardware platforms.

AT&T Inc. this week said it will release HTC Corp.’s HTC One X to U.S. customers this spring.
The HTC One X will include a 1.5GHz Dual-Core CPU, 4.7-inch Super LCD 720p HD display, 1GB RAM, 16GB Memory, 8MP camera with f/2.0 shutter and 1080p video, front VGA camera with 720p video, Beats Audio, and 4G LTE functionality.
In addition, the product will include Google Inc.’s Ice Cream Sandwich Android 4.0 OS.
2K Games and Gearbox Software this week said Borderlands 2 for the PC will include Steamworks functionality.
Steamworks features include Steam Achievements, downloadable content, auto-updating, multiplayer matchmaking, Steam Cloud support and more.
Borderlands 2, to be sold Sept. 18, will include a full single-player campaign, split-screen online functionality, and 4-player co-op functionality.
