Target Corp. this week began selling Nintendo Co.’s Wii hardware with a bonus credit following a lowered sales forecast for the manufacturer.
Through Feb. 19, customers who purchase the Wii hardware with New Super Mario Bros. Wii will receive a $20 gift card at no additional cost.
Nintendo in Jan. lowered its full-year forecast due to a strong yen and weakened demand for game hardware.
The company this week estimates a full year net loss of 65 billion yen ($838 million), compared to a loss of 20 billion yen.
It estimates an operating loss of 45 billion yen, compared to an earlier estimate of 1 billion yen profit.
Wii sales fell 35 percent to 8.96 million units.
