Retailer Toys R Us Inc. this week began selling the Nintendo Co.’s Wii console with bonus credit following a lowered full-year forecast by the hardware maker.
Through Feb. 11, customers who purchase the Wii Black Console with New Super Mario Bros. Wii will receive a $20 Gift Card at no additional cost.
Nintendo in Jan. lowered its full-year forecast due to a strong yen and weakened demand for game hardware.
The company this week estimates a full year net loss of 65 billion yen ($838 million), compared to a loss of 20 billion yen.
It estimates an operating loss of 45 billion yen, compared to an earlier estimate of 1 billion yen profit.
Wii sales fell 35 percent to 8.96 million units.
Nintendo said Wii U, the successor to Wii, to be sold in time for the 2012 holiday shopping period.
