Nintendo Co. this month said it will launch the Nintendo Network online service for the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U.

The Nintendo Network will offer downloadable DLC, digital games, and a personal account login system.

Mario Kart 7 for the Nintendo 3DS will be the first title to receive download content.

The launch date for the service is to be determined.

Nintendo this month lowered its full-year forecast due to a strong yen and weakened demand for game hardware.

In addition, it lowered sales forecasts for the Nintendo 3DS hardware to 14 million units by fiscal Mar. 2012, down from 16 million.

The Wii U is scheduled to be released by holiday 2012.
