Sony Corp. this week demonstrated Unit 13 for the Playstation Vita at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, NV.
The latest build included a selection of missions that allows users to choose from several character loadouts.
The first mission featured a warehouse infiltration. Users have a choice to execute stealth options like a melee attack or run-and-gun through the mission.
An on-screen map provided positioning of enemy troops in addition to cues like alerted troops from nearby gunfire.
The control setup was solid with dual-analog functionality, left trigger to ready aim and right trigger to fire. Users can tap the on-screen gun icon to reload or tap the grenade icon to toss an explosive where the crosshair is located.
The graphics engine is solid at 30 frames-per-second. Locations held sharp and moderately detailed structures in addition to troops with good rag doll physics.
Unit 13, to be sold Mar. 6, is a new third-person action shooter that will include 36 missions in nine locations.
The title is said to include 36 small, replayable missions to be played solo or with a friend. In addition, the title will include touch controls to pick up weapons, reload, vault over barriers or access the map.
The final game is said to utilize 3G to update users with Leaderboard information, Daily Challenge content, unlocks, shared High Value Target missions, and challenges from friends.
The PS Vita will be sold Feb. 22 in the U.S.
The Playstation Vita First Edition Bundle will be sold Feb. 15.
