Microsoft Corp. this week said it will launch Kinect for Windows in Feb. at $249.99 in the U.S.

The company this week said it is working with 200 companies on Kinect apps to deliver gesture-control functions and games to the PC.

Kinect for Xbox 360 was released in Nov. 2010. It has sold more than 18 million units to date.

Microsoft in Dec. said it sold 750,000 Kinect sensors were sold in bundle and stand-alone configurations during Black Friday week.

The hardware was discounted to as low as $99.99, $50 off the $149.99 MSRP during the holiday buying period.
