Acer Inc. this week the Aspire A5, the world’s thinnest notebook to ship in Q2 2012.
The Aspire A5 measures 15mm at its thickest and weighs less than 3 lbs. The notebook includes a 13.3-inch screen, Intel Core CPU, SSD storage, and MagicFlip I/O port that hides HDMI, USB 3.0, and 20Gbps Thunderbolt ports.
In addition, the ultrabook features a magnesium alloy cover and metallic brush detail.
“The Ultrabook is much more than just a product segment,” said Jim Wong, president of Acer Inc.
“It’s a new trend that will become the mainstream for mobile PCs, and customers will see the unique features gradually extended across Acer’s notebook family.”
The final product will include Acer Always Connect functionality hold constant updates to Twitter, Facebook, and Outlook, plus access all documents and files from remote devices, including smartphones.
Acer currently ranks as the No. 2 PC notebook maker in global markets.
