Google Inc. this week said the company activated 3.7 million Android devices in late. Dec.

Andy Rubin, Senior Vice President of Mobile at Google, tweeted this month that 3.7 million Android devices were activated between Dec. 24 and Dec. 25.

Android software is currently available in smartphones and tablets by manufacturers including HTC Corp. and Acer Inc.

Google in Dec. released the Android 4.0 OS. Code-named Ice Cream Sandwich, it includes the ability to create folders of apps, list view and flick away currently running apps, take screen shots, save e-mails for offline search, set mobile data limits, Android Beam to bump info to another user, and a new face unlock feature to unlock the phone via facial recognition technology.

The software debuted on Samsung Electronics Co. Inc.’s Galaxy Nexus smartphone in Dec.
