Wal-Mart Stores Inc. this week began offering a $40 bonus with the purchase of Nintendo Co.’s Nintendo 3DS handheld.
Through Dec. 17, customers who purchase the Nintendo 3DS will receive a $40 Gift Card at no additional cost.
Nintendo in Nov. said the Nintendo 3DS has sold nearly 2.5 million units in the U.S.
In addition, Super Mario 3D Land has sold more than 625,000 units and is the fastest-selling Super Mario title in franchise history.
Nintendo launched the Nintendo 3DS handheld with 18 software titles Mar. 27.
The hardware includes two screens, a 3D Depth Slider, a Circle Pad, a 2GB SD Card and 3-D display technology that does not require the use of special glasses.
