Sales for Nintendo Co.’s Wii hardware increased in Japan in the latest retail data for the region.
Media Create Co. on Fri. reported that the Wii sold 31,071 units between Nov. 28 to Dec. 4 to rank No. 4 in overall sales.
By comparison, the Wii sold 20,148 units the week prior.
The hardware ranked two titles in the top 10, including A HREF=”http://www.amazon.com/Legend-Zelda-Skyward-Sword-Nintendo-Wii/dp/B002BSC54I/ref=as_li_wdgt_js_ex?&linkCode=wsw&tag=httpwwwpuncco-20″>The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword at No. 5 with 32,191 copies sold, and 83 percent decline from the week prior.
Nintendo Co. in Oct. posted a $927 million loss in the first six months of the fiscal year amid slow sales for current products.
Wii sales declined to 3.35 million units from 4.97 million units one year ago.
Nintendo in Oct. began sale of the Wii Black Console Bundle with New Super Mario Bros. Wii and Music CD at $149.99.
New titles include Kirby’s Return to Dreamland and The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword.
Nintendo will release Wii U, the successor the Wii hardware, in 2012.
