A firm this week said Amazon.com Inc.’s Kindle Fire may take 50 percent off the Android tablet market in 2012, according to a new report.
Evercore Partners analyst Robert Cihra this week said he expects the Kindle Fire to estimate for half of all Android tablet sales in 2012.
In addition, he expects Apple Inc.’s iPad to maintain a competitive lead in the premium tablet sector.
The Kindle Fire, released Nov. 15, is a 7-inch tablet that includes Amazon services and a web browser at $199.00.
The sub-$200 price point has yielded strong launch sales for the product. Amazon in Nov. said the Kindle Fire was the best-selling product across all categories in the recent Black Friday shopping session.
Analysts estimate sales between three and five million in the four quarter.
