An analyst with Piper Jaffray this week increased Q4 sales estimates for Amazon.com Inc.’s Kindle Fire to four million units due to price and device offerings.
Barclays PLC in Oct. estimated 4.5 million Kindle Fire units sold in Q4, while a JPMorgan analyst in Nov. forecast five million units sold in the same period.
The Kindle Fire, which began sale Nov. 15, includes a full-color 7-inch multi-touch IPS display, Dual-Core CPU, 8GB Internal Memory, Wi-Fi functionality, and up to eight hours of battery life at $199.00.
The device includes access to popular applications include Netflix, Hulu Plus, and ESPN ScoreCenter.
Meanwhile, Barnes & Noble Inc. this month began shipment of the Nook Tablet, a 7-inch Android-based tablet at $249.00.
