Media Create Co. this week said the Sony Corp.’s Playstation 3 ranked third in hardware sales in the latest Japan retail activity.
The PS3 sold 22,919 units between Nov. 7 to Nov. 13 to rank No. 3 in overall hardware sales.
By comparison, the hardware sold 26,966 to rank third the week prior.
The hardware ranked two titles in the top 10, including Konami Corp.’s Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker HD Edition at No. 7.
During maintenance access to the Playstation Store from the PS3 and PSP, Account Management and Account Registration were unavailable for access.
Sony this month released a wave of new titles for the Playstation 3 that utilize the Playstation Move controller during the holiday shopping season.
The holiday software lineup includes Carnival Island, Medieval Moves: Deadmund’s Quest, EyePet & Friends, and LittleBigPlanet 2: Special Edition.

Tecmo Koei Corp. this week said Ninja Gaiden 3 will include the option to spare an enemy’s life.
The publisher this week said users have the option to spare the lives of select enemies when they beg for mercy.
New levels in the title include the city of Dubai. New enemies include Alchemist forces in addition to a standard mob of soldiers.
The PSP sold 23,472 units for the week to rank at No. 2 in Japan.
The PSP ranked three titles in the top 10, including Sega Corp.’s Project Diva Extend at No. 1.
Sales for Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox 360 hardware held under 2,000 units in the latest Japan retail figures.
Media Create Co. on Fri. reported that the Xbox 360 sold 1,531 units between Nov. 7 and Nov. 13 to rank No. 6 in overall sales.
By comparison, the hardware sold 1,699 units the week prior.
The hardware did not rank any titles in the top 10 game sales.
Activision Blizzard Inc.’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 for Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox 360 ranked above EA Inc.’s Battlefield 3 as the top Xbox Live title in the first week of Nov. in new activity data.
This week, Microsoft said Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 ranked as the No. 1 Xbox Live title for the week of Nov. 7 based on unique users.
By comparison, Battlefield 3 ranked as the third top Xbox 360 title in the Live division.
Activision Blizzard Inc. this week said Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 for Sony Corp.’s Playstation 3, Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox 360, and the PC generated $775 million in sales in the first 5 days of sale at global retail.
Bethesda Softworks this week said The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim for Sony Corp.’s Playstation 3, Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox 360, and the PC has shipped seven million units to global retail.
The title, which began sale Nov. 15, sold more than 3.5 million units to generate $500 million in the first 48 hours of sale.
In addition, 280,000 users played Skyrim via Valve Corp.’s Steam service in the first 24 hours of release.

Media Create Co. on Fri. reported that the Wii sold 11,782 units between Nov. 7 to Nov. 13 to rank No. 4 in overall sales.
By comparison, the Wii sold 11,725 units the week prior.
The hardware ranked three titles in the top 10, including Capcom Co.’s Sengoku Basara 3 at No. 6 and Kirby’s Return to Dreamland at No. 9.
SKUs for Nintendo Co.’s The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword for Wii lead product sales at GameStop Corp.’s online division this week pending release of the title.
This week, the The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword Gold Remote Bundle ranked as the No. 1 pre-order product at Gamestop.com.

This week, Super Mario 3D Land ranked as the No. 5 best-selling game product in Toysrus.com’s Video Games division.
