Bethesda Softworks this week said The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim for Sony Corp.’s Playstation 3, Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox 360, and the PC has shipped seven million units to global retail.
The title, which began sale Nov. 15, sold more than 3.5 million units to generate $500 million in the first 48 hours of sale.
In addition, 280,000 users played Skyrim via Valve Corp.’s Steam service in the first 24 hours of release.
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is an open-world fantasy in which users have freedom of choice and the option to choose hundreds of weapons, spells, and abilities.
It is sold in a standard and Collector’s Edition SKU.
