Pre-order sales for Capcom Co.’s Resident Evil: Revelations for the Nintendo 3DS increased this week at Inc. amid building demand for the title.

This week, Resident Evil: Revelations held a 517 percent sales increase to rank at No. 267 in Amazon’s Video Games division.

Resident Evil: Revelations is a brand new entry in the Resident Evil franchise set between the events of Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 5.

Characters include Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine, in addition to new BSAA members Parker Luciani and Jessica Sherawat. New locations include a cruise ship.

It holds an MSRP of $49.99.

Nintendo in Nov. said the Nintendo 3DS has sold 1.65 million units in the U.S.

It price cut the handheld to $169.99 in Aug.

New titles include Super Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7 Dec. 4.

Nintendo in Oct. posted a $927 million loss in the first six months of the fiscal year amid slow sales for current products.

Between Apr. and Sept, the company cited the Aug. price cut for the Nintendo 3DS handheld, lower sales, and a strong yen which totaled to heftier losses. Exchange rate losses totaled to $689 million.

Nintendo forecast an annual net loss of $264 million and lowered net sales to $10.4 billion from $11.9 billion for the year ending Mar. 2012.

The price reduction of the Nintendo 3DS increased hardware sales to 3.07 million units and 8.13 million units of software.
