Media Create Co. this week said the Sony Corp.’s Playstation 3 ranked third in hardware sales in the latest Japan retail activity.

The PS3 sold 26,966 units between Oct. 31 to Nov. 6 to rank No. 3 in overall hardware sales.

By comparison, the hardware sold 25,217 to rank third the week prior.

The hardware ranked two titles in the top 10, including Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception at No. 2 and EA Inc.’s Battlefield 3 at No. 3.

EA Inc.’s Battlefield 3 ranked as the top-selling game title in Oct. U.S. sales.

Battlefield 3 sold nearly two million units for the month to lead overall game U.S. sales. It began sale Oct. 25.

Sony Corp. this week said EA Inc.’s NBA Jam: On Fire Edition for the Playstation Network division of the Playstation 3 ranked as the top-selling download title in Oct.

PAYDAY: The Heist ranked at No. 2 and Crysis ranked third in the same period.

Square Enix Holdings Co. this week said it will release Final Fantasy XIII-2 Collector’s Edition Jan. 2012.

The Final Fantasy XIII-2 Collector’s Edition will include Special Digipack Packaging with Concept Art Book and the 4-Disc Official Soundtrack at $79.99.

Retailer Amazon.com Inc. this week discounted Sony Corp.’s Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception for the Playstation 3 to under $52 in a new game sale.

Pre-order sales for Capcom Co.’s Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 gained this week at Amazon.com Inc. pending release of the fighter.

Pre-order sales for THQ Inc.’s Saints Row: The Third increased this week at GameStop Corp.’s online division amid building demand for the sequel.

The PSP sold 27,952 units for the week to rank at No. 2 in Japan.

The PSP ranked two titles in the top 10, including Square Enix Holdings Co.’s Final Fantasy Type-0 at No. 4 and Konami Corp.’s World Soccer Winning Eleven 2012 at No. 6.

Microsoft this week reported that the Xbox 360 sold 393,000 units in Oct. U.S. sales to rank as the No. 1 hardware for the month.

The company added the Xbox 360 held more than 44 percent of current generation market share for the month.

Media Create Co. on Fri. reported that the Xbox 360 sold 1,699 units between Oct. 31 and Nov. 6 to rank No. 6 in overall sales.

By comparison, the hardware sold 1,704 units the week prior.

The hardware ranked one title in the top 10, EA Inc.’s Battlefield 3 at No. 8.

Activision Blizzard Inc. this week said Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 for Sony Corp.’s Playstation 3, Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox 360, and the PC generated $400 million in sales in the first 24 hours of sale in the U.S. and UK.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 sold 6.5 million in the first day of release to break the sales record of 2010’s Call of Duty: Black Ops, which sold 5.6 million units in 24 hours.

Index Digital Media Inc.’s Atlus division, HBO, and Cyanide Studios this week said it will release Game of Thrones in early 2012.

Game of Thrones, based on the ‘A Song of Ice and Fire‘ book franchise and television adaptation, is an action RPG title said to hold 30 plus hours of gameplay.

Pre-order demand for Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary for the Xbox 360 held the top three sales at Best Buy Co. Inc.’s online division due to strong demand.

Bethesda Softworks this week released The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim to U.S. retail.

Nintendo Co. this week said it sold a combined 650,000 Nintendo 3DS, Wii, and Nintendo DS units in Oct. U.S. figures.

The Nintendo 3DS sold more than 250,000 units, Wii sold nearly 250,000 units, and the Nintendo DS sold 180,000 units for the month.

Sales for Nintendo Co.’s Wii ranked as the No. 4 game hardware in Japan in the latest retail data.

Media Create Co. on Fri. reported that the Wii sold 11,725 units between Oct. 31 and Nov. 6 to rank No. 4 in overall sales.

By comparison, the Wii sold 11,784 units the week prior.

The hardware ranked three titles in the top 10, including Kirby’s Return to Dreamland at No. 4, Ubisoft Inc.’s Just Dance Wii at No. 9, and Namco Bandai Inc.’s Go Vacation at No. 10

Nintendo Co.’s Wii U may include support for two tablet controllers in the final hardware unit according to a new report.

The report claims Nintendo is hard at work to include simultaneous use of two tablet controllers. The company previously stated that the Wii U could support one tablet controller and four Wii Remote controllers.

In addition, the company’s final specifications for RAM capacity and CPU speed are still pending.

Nintendo Co.’s Nintendo 3DS ranked as the top-selling game hardware in Japan amid the release of Super Mario 3D Land.

Media Create Co. this week said the Nintendo 3DS sold 145,271 units between Oct. 31 to Nov. 6 to rank as the No. 1 game hardware for the week.

The 3DS ranked two titles in the top 10 for the week, including Super Mario 3D Land at No. 1 and Square Enix Holdings Co.’s Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime 3 at No. 7.

Meanwhile, the Nintendo DSi LL sold 2,041 units to rank No. 5, the Nintendo DSi sold 1,057 to rank No. 8, and the DS Lite sold 33 units to rank No. 9 in the same period.
