HTC Corp.’s HTC Edge may include the first quad-core CPU in a smartphone according to a new report.

The HTC Edge will reportedly include a 1.5Ghz quad-core AP30 Tegra 3 CPU by Nvidia Inc., the first for a mobile handset.

In addition, the Edge may include a 4.7-inch 720p display, 1GB RAM, 8MP camera, and 21Mbps HSDPA functionality.

It is estimated to be sold in late Q1 to Q2 of 2012.

HTC this month announced the HTC Rezound will be sold via Verizon Wireless Nov. 14 at $299.99 after contract.

The HTC Rezound includes a 1.5Ghz Dual-Core CPU, 1GB RAM, 4.3inch 720p HD display, 8MP camera with 1080 video recording, Google Inc.’s Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS, HTC Sense, and Beats audio technology.

Verizon 4G LTE service offers customers 5 to 12Mbps download speeds and 2 to 5Mbps upload speeds in available areas.
