Nintendo Co. has filed a new patent that would add a touchpad accessory to the Wii Remote, according to a new report.
The touchpad would lock to the top of the Wii Remote to allow users to input touch controls that would relay from the controller to the screen.
However, the product may never be sold, as Nintendo has previously filed patents for peripherals and accessories that were never released for Wii.
Nintendo in Oct. began sale of the Wii Black Console Bundle with New Super Mario Bros. Wii and Music CD at $149.99.
Nintendo will release Wii U, the successor the Wii hardware, in 2012.
The controller will include a 6.2-inch screen to view alternate game data or stream TV content.
