Media Create Co. this week said the Sony Corp.’s Playstation 3 ranked No. 2 in hardware sales in the latest Japan retail activity.

The PS3 sold 23,897 units between Oct. 17 to Oct. 23 to rank No. 2 in overall hardware sales.

By comparison, the hardware sold 28,596 to rank third the week prior.

The hardware ranked five titles in the top 10, including Namco Bandai Games Inc.’s Gekijouban Macross F: Sayonara no Tsubasa at No. 1, Dead Island at No. 5, EA Inc.’s FIFA 12 at No. 6, Konami Corp.’s World Soccer Winning Eleven 2012 at No. 7, and Ace Combat: Assault Horizon at No. 8.

Sony Corp.’s Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception for the Playstation 3 leapt to the top three sales at Amazon.com Inc. due to strong demand.

In addition, the Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception Collector’s Edition ranked in the top 25 this week at GameStop Corp.’s online division due to strong demand.

Finally, the Playstation 3 320GB Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception Bundle ranked in the top 50 sales at Amazon.com Inc. amid building advanced sales.

Rockstar Games, a division of Take-Two Interactive Inc., announced the production of Grand Theft Auto V.

The company, which released the official logo of title Tues., incorporated the Roman numeral five with graphics that resemble the etching and font of U.S. currency.

The developer teased that the first trailer for Grand Theft Auto V will be released Nov. 2.

Namco Bandai Games America Inc.’s Dragon Ball Z Ultimate Tenkaichi is a standard fighting title that offers quick fighting action and adds a new character customization option to the fight fest in a Final Review.

Disney Interactive Studios Inc.’s Disney Universe is a solid action puzzler that builds levels to be deconstructed using a multitude of interactive objects in a Final Review.

Sony Corp. this week announced it will sell the Playstation Vita First Edition Bundle to U.S. retail Feb. 15, 2012, one week prior to the hardware launch date.

The Playstation Vita First Edition Bundle will include the PS Vita 3G / Wi-Fi SKU, 4GB Memory Card, limited edition case, a copy of Little Deviants, and will ship one week earlier than the stand-alone PS Vita SKU at $349.99.

Sony Corp.’s Playstation Vita web browser will not support Adobe Systems Inc.’s Flash protocol at launch according to a new report.

Japan publication Famitsu this week said the PS Vita web browser will not include Flash support at launch, but will be compatible with part of the HTML5 standard, Javascript 1.7 and will support cookies.

Sales for Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox 360 hardware increased in the latest Japan retail figures.

Media Create Co. on Fri. reported that the Xbox 360 sold 1,620 units between Oct. 17 and Oct. 23 to rank No. 8 in overall sales.

By comparison, the hardware sold 1,887 units the week prior.

The hardware ranked one title in the top 10, Spike’s Dead Island at No. 10.

Pre-order sales for Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary for the Xbox 360 ranked in the top 10 sales at GameStop Corp.’s online division pending release of the HD remaster.

Developer Bioware Inc. and EA Inc. this week detailed the Galaxy at War co-op mode for Mass Effect 3.

In the Galaxy at War mode, up to four-players can co-op to defeat waves of enemies.

Players can combine to deploy melee attacks, tech powers, and biotics, in addition to skills and equipment to battle each progressively difficult wave.

Capcom Co. this week released the Gamer’s Day Trailer for Steel Battalion Heavy Armor for Kinect for the Xbox 360.

The new trailer details the control setup, which includes the Xbox 360 controller to move and fire, in addition to Kinect gesture controls to start the engine or man the turret-mounted machine gun.

Activision Blizzard Inc. this month released the Launch Trailer for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.

The Launch Trailer includes destruction of landmarks, cities, and urban warfare on land and sea.

Bethesda Softworks’ The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim summoned the top 10 pre-order sales at GameStop Corp.’s online division this week due to strong pre-order demand.

Pre-order sales for Sega Corp.’s Sonic Generations increased this week at Amazon.com Inc. pending release of the title.

Sales for Nintendo Co.’s Wii ranked as the No. 4 game hardware in Japan in the latest retail data.

By comparison, the Wii sold 12,161 units the week prior.

The hardware ranked three titles in the top 10, including Namco Bandai Inc.’s Go Vacation at No. 3, Ubisoft Inc.’s Just Dance Wii at No. 4.

Pre-order sales for Nintendo Co.’s The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword Gold Remote Bundle for the Wii ranked in the top three sales at GameStop Corp.’s online division amid strong demand.

Nintendo Co. this week released Kirby’s Return to Dream Land for Wii to U.S. retail.

Kirby’s Return to Dream Land is a platform action title includes classic and new abilities.

Nintendo Co. this week posted a $927 million loss in the first six months of the fiscal year amid slow sales for current products.

Between Apr. and Sept, the company cited the Aug. price cut for the Nintendo 3DS handheld, lower sales, and a strong yen which totaled to heftier losses. Exchange rate losses totaled to $689 million.

Nintendo forecast an annual net loss of $264 million and lowered net sales to $10.4 billion from $11.9 billion for the year ending Mar. 2012.

Media Create Co. this week said the Nintendo 3DS sold 73,933 units between Oct. 17 and Oct. 23 to rank as the No. 1 game hardware for the week.

The 3DS did not rank any titles in the top 10 for the week.

Meanwhile, the Nintendo DSi LL sold 2,005 units to rank No. 5, the Nintendo DSi sold 1,293 to rank No. 6, and the DS Lite sold 36 units to rank No. 9 in the same period.

Nintendo Co.’s Super Mario 3D Land for the Nintendo 3DS ranked in the top 15 sales at GameStop Corp.’s online division this week due to building pre-order demand.
