Research in Motion Ltd. this week said it has fully restored service to Blackberry devices after a three-day outage that plagued global markets.

RIM Thurs. said global Blackberry services are operating well and that support teams will continue to monitor the situation to ensure service stability.

It added customers in Canada and Latin America may see intermittent message delays.

This week, a Blackberry service outage affected the U.S., Japan, Singapore, Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.

RIM this week blamed a core switch failure in RIM’s infrastructure. The failure is designated to failover to a backup, which did not function correctly.

As a result a backlog of data was generated and must be cleared prior to restoring service.

Select U.S. retailers in Sept. discounted Research in Motion Ltd.’s Blackberry Playbook by as much as $200 after slow demand.

The Blackberry Playbook includes a 7-inch screen, 1Ghz Dual-Core CPU, Dual HD Video Cameras, and Wi-Fi support.

RIM in June said the Blackberry Playbook shipped 200,000 units in the fiscal second quarter, below company estimates.
