Facebook Inc. this week released the new Facebook application for Apple Inc.’s iPad tablet.
The new Facebook iPad app includes games, apps, groups, and lists in a left-hand menu. Notifications and messages appear at the top of the screen.
In addition to standard social networking functionality, the app allows users to chat and play games in full-screen mode.
Finally, the photo album includes full-screen functionality that users can swipe to flip through.
Facebook currently holds more than 800 million members worldwide.
The iPad, which currently dominates the tablet market at 30 million units sold, shipped 9.25 million units in the third quarter of 2011.
Meanwhile, Amazon.com Inc. in Nov. will sell the Kindle Fire, a 7-inch tablet that includes a Dual-Core CPU, 8GB Internal Memory, Wi-Fi functionality, and up to eight hours of battery life at $199.00.
